Hide-A-Spare under frame spare tire carrier

After Market Distributor Product

Description

Aftermarket add-on. Requires assembly of Tire Carrier before mounting.

Rear bumper spare tire mounts are cumbersome and ugly, and they make it difficult to install bike racks and cargo trays. Plus, they add weight and length to your travel trailer.

BAL now offers the ‘Hide-A-Spare’ Tire Storage System that allows you to mount the bulky tire beneath your trailer and out of the way. This system is very easy to mount and if you ever require access to the spare tire, simple to remove.

With two models to fit every type of trailer frame, installation is quick and simple. The knob and pin are removed to lower the ‘Hide-A-Spare’ to the ground. It then telescopes out for easier access to the spare tire.

Made in the USA. Not retail boxed. Limited One-Year Warranty.

Tire mounting hardware included. Frame mounting hardware not included.

Only one tire per carrier allowed. 100 lb tire/wheel limit. Additional Tire Mount Plates not available for purchase.

*Difference between Model with a ‘B’ and without – Our first version of the Hide-a-Spare was sold only to OEMs that build trailers so it was a fixed, welded design. Two of the plates were welded to the tubes. Those models were 28217 and 28218 only. In order to make the product easier to ship, we changed the design to a bolt together version that requires eight bolts to be installed for assembly. The current models are 28217B and 28218B. Some companies that retail the product kept the original number due to historical sales data. There should be little to none of the original, welded models still out there.

Not designed for use on motorhomes or motorized vehicles due to narrow frame width, ground clearance issues, and weight limit of tire.

INSTALLATION TIPS:

Mount outside of spare downward for easier access to air nozzle without dropping carrier to ground

At final assembly, put a heavy grease or anti-seize on the threads of Locking Knob to help reduce corrosion or rust

At final assembly, add a heavy grease to the top of the inner tubes. When the carrier is stored for travel, the grease will coat the interior of the outer tube assemblies for smoother extension when carrier extension is required
